Welcome – thanks for stopping by! My name is Kristy and I love to bake. Specifically, I love baking cookies. I’m also known for my ridiculous witch-like cackling laugh (a trait I inherited from my mother). On the bright side, it is more of a happy-sounding cackle rather than the evil wicked witch variety…although, depending on the time of the month, my husband might give you another opinion.
So, while I’m not an actual witch, I sort of play one in my kitchen – and my cackle is just a lucky bonus. I happen to think recipes are a bit like casting a spell…a pinch of this, a scoop of that and…POOF! Magic happens!
One of my favorite cookie recipes is super simple and as far as I can tell, has been around a long time. Many people know them as pudding cookies because they contain instant pudding mix to keep them super soft. Growing up in the 1980’s, this recipe lived as a magazine clipping in my mother’s recipe file. Over the years, I’ve tweaked the recipes measurements a little bit to make it my own.
I’m now a working mommy of my own rambunctious toddler. Over the past couple of years, I’ve spent A LOT of time rocking that baby. During those times – especially at 3AM – a little bit of magic started to happen. Not the kind of magic that would make the baby fall asleep as fast as I wanted, but I started to dream up different flavor combinations from this one basic recipe. As of today, I have more than 130+ recipe ideas!!
These recipes – and the inspiration or special memory associated with each one – are the main focus of this blog. However, I’ll also post assorted cookie, cake, pie or other dessert-y items I cook up. This little spot on the Web is a great excuse to keep my passion for baking a priority in my busy life. It’s also a chance for me to share some of this kitchen magic with others. The next time you have to bring snack for the soccer team, have a potluck to attend, or had a bad day and want to treat yourself, just bake a batch of my cookies.
In my opinion, cookies are the perfect treat. Go ahead, eat healthy most of the week (that’s what I strive to do – and you just might see some of the healthy stuff I eat here, too) – it’s good for your body. But when you add a couple of cookies to the mix…well, that’s just good for your soul.
[Yep, that’s a cackling laugh you hear!]
